Thank you for your letter of 30 April 2001 concerning the changes to the R&D Tax Concession announced in the Government's Innovation Statement, Backing Australia's Ability. As you know, the Government announced a major change to the 175% Premium R&D Tax Concession on 24 May 2001, moving from R&D intensity as the basis for the Premium, to the level of R&D expenditure.
