Fuel Grants Credit Scheme - Claims for Fuel Grants to Change from 1 July 2006

From 1 July 2006, taxpayers who claim fuel grants through the Energy Grant Credit Scheme will need to change the way in which they make their claims. On 29 March 2006, the Fuel Tax Bill 2006 and Fuel Tax (consequential and Transitional provisions) Bill 2006 was introduced into Parliament. Even though the legislation is not yet finalised, the new legislation replaces the manner in which claims will be made. Notably the biggest change is that the claims for fuel credits will be made through the BAS and may apply to all fuels, not just diesel.
