This event examined SME structures focusing on simpler and safer alternatives to the traditional trust arrangements. Discretionary trust arrangements have been popular among family groups in business due to benefits of asset protection and flexibility in distributing income, however they can lead to some unfavourable outcomes due to retaining monies for working capital, such as Division 7A, s100A or UPEs.
