The Inspector-General and Taxation Ombudsman investigates and reports on the administration of the taxation law, both in relation to particular taxpayers, and more broadly, in relation to the systems established by the Australian Taxation Office or the Tax Practitioners Board. In July 2022, the IGTO released its review investigation report into the ATO's administration of deceased estates. The Inspector-General provides an update on the functions, powers and duties of her office, as well as some key insights from ongoing and completed investigations, including the Death and Taxes report.
